What a love calculator actually does
A love calculator turns two names into a percentage. It is entertainment, and it has no predictive value whatsoever. Nothing about two people's compatibility is encoded in the spelling of their names.
The mechanism is a deterministic hash: the letters are combined arithmetically to produce a number between 1 and 100. Because it is deterministic rather than random, the same two names always give the same score, which is what makes it feel like it is measuring something.
It is worth saying plainly, because the fun of the thing depends on nobody taking it seriously. If a low number would genuinely bother you about someone, the calculator has stopped being a game.
Reversing the names or changing a nickname changes the score, which is a good demonstration that it is measuring the spelling and nothing else.

This is a game. It makes no claim to measure anything real and should not be treated as though it does.
For anything that actually matters in a relationship, the useful conversations are with the person, not with a calculator.
How to calculate a love compatibility score
There is nothing to work out. The interest is in why the number feels meaningful when it is not.

People sometimes reach for this when actually uncertain about a relationship, and a number cannot help with that.
If there is a genuine question, the answer is with the other person. A calculator that returns 34% has told you nothing except that two words share few letters.
